Intimate Session and a Proposal in Great Sand Dunes Nat. Park

Delane and Andrew had a big wedding with all their family and friends there to witness the two of them becoming one. The only thing missing was the mountains.

Being from Colorado, they wanted to show their love in a place that felt more natural to them. They called up their best friends Molly and Ross to join them and we headed west from KC to meet them in Denver.

To start their weekend off, we woke up before the sun and went out to Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder to shoot at sunrise looking over the mountains. You can check that out here!

Later that afternoon, we went out to Great Sand Dunes Nat. Park. The plan was to get some photos of Delane and Andrew and then hang out on the dunes sand boarding and taking in the sights. At least as far as Molly knew.

After a while we headed back to the cars to change clothes and grab some snacks. Andrew and Ross are pretty serious about their wide selection of beers.

Andrew strapped his Tevas and we hopped back into the dunes for some sandboarding (which is far more difficult than skateboarding? Who knew.) The whole trip Ross had been discussing his love for finding rare rocks and crystals, so when Andrew joked about there being “Diamonds underneath all this sand” we all about had a heart attack knowing that Ross was about to give Molly one without her having any clue. We wandered up on top of one of the taller dunes and hung out for a bit before it was time for Ross to pop the question. It was a beautiful moment, the sun was setting just right, and we all celebrated as we walked back to the cars worn out from the day. (and freezing, the temperature change is no joke once the sun is gone.)
